with the Orava Castle
A Trip Around the Tatras
Built on a 112-meter-high rock, Orava Castle is one of the greatest tourist attractions in northern Slovakia. Thanks to its location, it has not been conquered for centuries. The castle was originally the seat of the owners of Orava, and in 1868 the first museum exhibition in Slovak lands was established there. During an almost two-hour walk, we will visit the highest castle chambers and the ethnographic, archaeological and historical museums.
FROM THE CASTLE CHAMBERS IN ORAVIA TO THE LAND OF JANOSIK
The route of the trip runs along the most beautiful mountain roads in Poland and Slovakia. The first place visited is the Orava Castle, which rises on a 112-meter rock. Then we go to the Demänovská Cave of Freedom - one of the largest and most beautiful caves in Europe.

Orava Castle
Built on a 112-meter-high rock, Orava Castle is one of the greatest tourist attractions in northern Slovakia. Thanks to its location, it has not been conquered for centuries. During a nearly two-hour walk, we will visit the castle chambers and museums: ethnographic, archaeological and historical.
The next stage of the trip is a coach climb along the slopes of the Western Tatras, to move from Orava to the land of Janosik - Liptov. Deep in the Demänovská Valley we will go to the Cave of Freedom, one of the most beautiful caves in Europe. The cave is distinguished by the richness and diversity of all types of karst formations. At its bottom there are lakes with various dripstone forms. A rarity are cave pearls similar to pea balls, frost-covered stalactites, the Stone Sun in the Treasury, as well as lilac lakes with Rococo dolls in the Pink House. The total length of the cave (together with the neighboring Pusta Cave) is 8900m. The average temperature is 6.5°C.
NOTE: The Demänovská Cave of Freedom is currently undergoing renovation work. If the renovation extends into the summer season, it will be replaced by the Demänovská Ice Cave.
In Liptovský Mikuláš we plan to stop for a tasting of Slovak wines, lunch and shopping. The city is the economic, cultural and tourist centre of the historical Liptov region. The most interesting buildings include: St. Nicholas' Church, the County House and the Synagogue. The legendary Slovak hero Janosik is associated with Liptovský Mikuláš.
